Building Communities: A Path to Fulfillment

This short video was inspired by the article titled “My Parting Prescription for America,” written by Dr Vivek Murthy, the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States. He reflects on his experiences and observations from his tenure. Dr. Murthy identifies the erosion of community as a significant issue in modern America, leading to widespread loneliness, unhappiness, and health problems. He emphasizes that community is essential for fulfillment, well-being, and resilience.

Dr Murthy also outlines three core elements of community: Relationships, Service, and Purpose, as well as highlights the importance of Love as the foundational virtue that binds these elements together.

While technology and societal changes have contributed to the decline of community, there are actionable steps individuals and leaders can take to rebuild it. Dr Murthy calls for a cultural shift away from the pursuit of wealth, fame, and power toward a focus on relationships, service, and purpose. Ultimately, he urges Americans to choose community as the path to a healthier, more fulfilling life.
